The
term "ski resort" seems inappropriate
here, because, in this case, it would be
an understatement. Sixt is, above all
else, a genuine old-fashioned village
nestled in a preserved natural setting. It
would be hard to find a more tranquil way
of life. Pistes accessible from the
village occasionally have inadequate snow
cover, but they are perfect for beginning
skiers. Access to the linked Grand Massif
domain (265 km of pistes) via Samoëns is
provided by a free shuttle service (6 km).
Not to be missed: a visit, on snowshoes or
cross-country skis, to the fabulous Fer à
Cheval bowl-one of the jewels of the
French Alps.
